We know what it is like dealing with a board, let alone an entire community of people that all seem to have a different idea of what is in the best interest of the HOA. Water-Wise, Environmentally Friendly Landscape Maintenance

Understanding the basics of water-wise gardening is essential. Wasting water is not only expensive but also disgraceful in today’s environment.

Over-watering is the norm. It is easier to over-water than to monitor and readjust the systems. It is easier to have the controller watering enough that even if the weather turns hot and windy the system will make sure there is enough water for the plants to survive any condition.

The problem is that the plants develop shallow roots when watered too often. Even though there is moisture deep in the soil, the plants, trees, weeds, and grass are all competing for the moisture in the top few inches. You end up using much more water than if the plants were trained to have deeper roots.  See our article on deep watering…

Most irrigation systems are very inefficient. Some areas may be getting 4 to 5 times as much water as another on the same valve. This means that in order to get enough water to the weakest area, the other areas may be getting 5 times more water than they need.

One of the first things Garden View does is an irrigation precipitation and efficiency test. We usually find that with some minor adjustments and/or adding a sprinkler or two, we can save an enormous amount of water.  See our article on sprinkler efficiency…
