Bougainvillea Vines, Shrubs, and Groundcovers
- Full Sun or Partial Shade
- Little Water once Established. Water-Wise
Reliably hardy in southern California, but will die back with temperatures to 28° or lower. Bougainvillea’s vibrant colors come not from its inconspicuous flowers, but from the three bracts that surround them. Fertilize in spring and summer. Prune heavily in spring after danger of frost has past. Plant can be used as a vine, sprawling groundcover, small shrub, or hanging basket plant.
Be very careful with delicate roots when planting.
