Thick, rigidly upright, patterned leaves that grow from thick rhizomes to form 2 foot wide rosettes. Leaves are dark green banded with gray green, that can grow 4 feet tall, 2 inches wide. Bears erect, narrow clusters of fragrant greenish white flowers in Hawaii, but seldom on mainland. Tolerates most conditions, but don’t overwater. Makes an excellent houseplant where it will improve indoor air quality.
