Quiver Tree

Aloe dichotoma

  • Full Sun
  • Little to Moderate Water Once Established

This slow growing tree aloe gets its name from the indigenous Saan people of South Africa who used its long tubular branches as hollowed out quivers for their arrows. Forms a stocky, thick trunked compact tree with gray-green leaves. Short clusters of bright yellow flowers appear in winter. Eventually reaching 12ft tall or more, this tree aloe is hardy to 27° F. Prefers good drainage, but tolerates most soils.
