Evergreen shrub from New Zealand that grows 15-25 feet tall and 10-15 wide, but can easily be kept much smaller. Produces aromatic maroon flowers in late spring to early summer. The leaves are glossy mid green with a wavy margin. All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested. Somewhat open habit. If planted in full sun, keep soil cool by mulching often and regulating water.
