Beaked Yucca

Naturally inhabiting western Texas and northern Mexico in the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila, this plant is found on rocky slopes and ridges. Tree-like yucca to 12 feet by 9 feet or larger. Trunk is covered with soft gray fuzz (fibers remaining from old leaf bases). Needle-pointed leaves to 2 feet long by ½ inches wide. Blooms in late spring, bearing 2 foot clusters of white, 2½ inch flowers on a 2 foot stalk. Prefers good draining soil and is noted for tolerating alkaline soils.  Tolerant to 0° F.
