The client envisioned a modern design, yet the house was a Ranch style. To achieve this vision, we integrated modern features into the rustic Ranch aesthetic. The rockwork, composed of stacked flagstone with large pieces, maintains the Ranch style. The straight horizontal lines of the modern fireplace use traditional materials, yet its shape is distinctly contemporary. The water features create movement reminiscent of classic streams.

This project successfully embodies a blend of several genres. The steppers in the water add visual interest with their modern forms, while the textures of modern materials contrast with the natural stone without being abrasive. The water features and fireplace serve as focal points, providing movement and focus, while the large pool offers significant visual value.

Using the same pavers and furniture throughout creates a cohesive relationship between all the areas. A large koi pond, set at a distance, invites exploration and discovery as you approach it, enhancing the sense of distance and depth within the space. This thoughtful design seamlessly merges modern and rustic elements, creating a harmonious and visually engaging outdoor environment.
