Native to eastern U. S. and Mexico. Excellent shade, lawn or park tree. Large, tall, narrow tree, most noted for its fall color. Leave resemble maples, 5 lobes typically. Fall color ranges from gold, orange, red and purple. Probably the #1 most reliable fall color tree in So Cal. Produces a spikey ball seed pod. Roots are aggressive, should plant at least 20 ft away from house, patios, driveways, sidewalks…
