Heavenly Bamboo

Nandina domestica

  • Sun or Shade; Colors Better in Sun
  • Little to Regular Water

Slow to moderate growth to 6 – 8 ft. Picks up purple and red tints in the fall; often turns fiery crimson in the winter. Resistant to oak root fungus. Do not prune with hedge trimmers, looks best when individual canes are pruned from base. Makes an airy small hedge or screen plant. Great for tight areas and around air conditioners. Reminiscent of bamboo in its lightly branched, cane like stems and delicate fine-textured foliage. Very dependable plant.
