Indian Hawthorn

Rhaphiolepis indica

  • Full Sun or Light Shade
  • Light to Regular Water

Evergreen shrub native to china. Grows to 5-6 feet tall and wide with dark pink flowers. Pruning can keep it at a smaller size indefinitely. For bushy, compact plants, pinch back branch tips at least once yearly, after flowering. For a more open structure, let plants grow naturally and thin out branches occasionally. Plants in partial shade are less compact and produce fewer flowers than those in full sun. Good seacoast plants; tolerates salt drift. Good dependable low maintenance shrub. Wide variety of uses including great background plant.
