California Pepper Tree

Schinus molle

  • Full Sun – Evergreen
  • Moderate water, none once mature. Water-Wise

Fast growth to 40 ft. tall and wide. Trunks of old trees are heavy and fantastically gnarled with knots and burls. Graceful dropping branchlets which can be very handsome when used properly. Grows in most soils. Avoid planting near streets and sidewalks as roots will lift cement. These trees are characteristic of California mission gardens. A fine tree for shading play areas. Can be used as an informal hedge. Greedy roots. Can be messy.
