Arcadia Pool Relocation & Backyard Resort

This Arcadia backyard is a great example of what happens when you’re willing to rethink the layout instead of working around it.

The homeowners loved their yard, but the pool placement never felt quite right—it sat too far out, which left the space between the house and water underused and made the backyard feel more disconnected than it needed to be. The solution was bold but completely worth it: we relocated the pool closer to the house and rebuilt the yard around a tighter, more livable outdoor footprint.

Moving the pool closer changed everything

Bringing the pool in toward the house instantly improved the way the yard functions. It created a true “hub” right off the back doors—better sightlines, easier entertaining, and that feeling of stepping outside into a space you’ll actually use every day. Instead of the pool being a destination you walk to, it became part of the home’s natural flow.

A beach entry made for real-life use

One of the standout features is the beach entry, which gives the pool a resort feel while also being incredibly practical. It’s ideal for lounging in a few inches of water, easing in without steps, and creating a shallow zone that naturally becomes the most-used area during gatherings. It softens the geometry of the pool and adds a welcoming “walk-in” experience that people notice immediately.

Stacked stone for warmth and texture

To balance the clean layout and tie the project into the home, we used stacked stone throughout the pool and entertainment areas. Stone adds depth and warmth—especially at night when the lighting catches the texture—and it gives the whole backyard a finished, built-to-last feel.

A true outdoor kitchen with Viking appliances

This wasn’t designed as a decorative BBQ island. It’s a real outdoor kitchen built for hosting, anchored by Viking appliances and wrapped in the same stone and countertop materials for a cohesive look. With dedicated prep space, storage, and a layout that supports cooking while still being part of the conversation, the kitchen becomes the second centerpiece of the yard—right alongside the pool.

The end result

Relocating the pool completely changed the experience of the space. What was once a yard with “separate features” is now a connected outdoor living environment—pool, beach entry, spa, and kitchen all working together in one cohesive design. It’s comfortable for everyday use, but it truly shines when the yard is full of friends and family.
